Rat Bastardson is the quick-drawing, sharp-talking sheriff of
the rough-and-tumble western town of Goonstone --- a place where
trouble rolls in faster than a dust storm. Known for his knack
for dealing with outlaws, card cheats, and loudmouth drunks, Rat
still finds time to swoon over Isabel, the fiery and flirtatious
local saloon girl who has every cowboy wrapped around her
finger. When bullets fly or bar fights break out, Rat often
calls on the town's questionable physician, Doc Rubbish, whose "medical expertise" is about as reliable as a two-legged mule.
Backing him up (when he remembers how) is Deputy Buck Nubbins, a
jittery but well-meaning lawman who's faster at filling out
paperwork than drawing his gun. Together, this mismatched crew
keeps Goonstone on the map --- and usually out of complete chaos
